Qadir praises team, criticizes ICC Rankings

Karachi :  Former Test spinner Abdul Qadir showered praises on Pakistan cricket team for their superb 3-0 series win over top ranked English side in UAE but he criticized ICC for its unflinching ranking table which remained unchanged even after a clean-sweep.
The team created history by beating England in all three Test matches. This is a great gift from the team to the nation. The team performed brilliantly in batting and bowling to outclass England,  Abdul Qadir, who had also been former chief selector, told PPI.
However, Qadir criticized ICC Rankings as the ranking table remained unchanged even after fifth placed Pakistan thrashed No 1 placed England.

It is absurd to see that rankings didn t change even after Pakistan defeated top placed England. Even after being humiliated and whitewashed, England is still enjoying top rankings. I don t know what ICC Rankings is all about,  he said.

Meanwhile, Qadir also advised ICC to change their ranking criteria.

I think they must change their criteria of ranking teams. The present ranking criteria doesn t make sense. I would advise them to rank teams only once a year, after rating performance of teams during the previous year. This would be very encouraging for teams and this manner the team, which has performed well throughout the year would enjoy top rankings throughout next year,  Qadir.
