Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Shaharyar M. Khan has congratulated Pakistan women team’s captain Sana Mir, manager Ayesha Ashhar, players and the team management for the clean sweep in the three match one-day series against Sri Lanka in Sharjah.
The series win also means that Team Pakistan got all six points to qualify for the ICC Women’s Championship. Pakistan whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 and also moved up to fourth position.
“I would like to congratulate the team on completing their highest chase in ODI history and also Javeria Khan on her maiden limited-overs century,” Shaharyar said in a message to the team.
“In recent years, Pakistan women’s team has consistently performed well. This reflects the hard work and commitment of all the players and management. The board is proud of them all,” he said.
“At this occasion, I also hope that the recent achievements of our women’s team will inspire more women and girls across the country to play cricket. To increase the spread of women’s cricket, the board has already taken several initiatives, like holding the inaugural Under-21 Malala Women Championship and increasing the number of facilities dedicated for our women cricketers,” added.
“The board has also recently acquired a ground at Model Town, Lahore from the Punjab government exclusively for women’s cricket. PCB has also signed a MoU with LUMS, which would open the ground and excellent training facilities in a superb environment for our female cricketers,” Shaharyar said.
