Pakistan women cricket team captain Sana Mir almost singlehandedly led her team to a convincing 55-run victory against Sri Lanka to equalize the three-match T20 series 1-1 in Sharjah on Friday.
Sana first anchored Pakistan’s inning from collapsing and scored brilliant and unbeaten 48 off only 37 balls to help Pakistan put on board 124-6 in allotted 20 overs. Javeria Khan also chipped in important 25 off 21 balls. Maduri Samuddika captured three wickets while Inoka Ranaweera took two.
Although chasing a modest total of 124 runs, Sri Lanka started badly and scored a measly total of 69 runs losing all of its wickets in 15.3 overs thanks to Sana for capturing a four-wicket haul, which includes a brilliant hat-trick, giving away only 14 runs in four overs.
Bismah Maroof also bowled well and captured two wickets. Chathurani Gunawardene (14 runs) and Ama Kanchana (10 runs) were the only players to reach double figures for Sri Lanka.
The decisive third match of the series will be played on today (January 17) at the same venue. Pakistan has defeated Sri Lanka in ODI series 3-0 during the ongoing tour.
