Franchises, other than Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans, are forlorn with the way Karachi and Multan are operating in PSL transfer retention.
According to the reports, selectors have issued a list of players category to all the franchises for the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL-3). Franchises are entitled to retain 10 players. However, if they do not wish to retain a specific player in a certain category then other franchises will have the option to retain that particular player in the same category.
For instance: franchise A is unwilling to retain XYZ in Platinum category then other franchises can pick XYZ in Platinum category. Subsequently, franchise A cannot retain XYZ in the Diamond category IF he is originally placed in the Platinum category
Here is the BREAKING NEWS: Selectors have placed Imad Wasim in the Platinum category. However Karachi Kings wants to retain him but in the lowered category i.e. Diamond. As a result, Multan Sultans are keen on picking Imad Wasim in the Platinum category.
According to sources, the deal did not take place and Multan Sultans withdrew their offer so that ‘business relations’ are not affected. The problem is that Multan Sultans have exceeded the deadline [which was 18th August] of picking the player. They have backed off now.
Franchises are also convincing the players to stay quiet on the demotion of their categories and they will be compensated for that after the PSL. Only 3 players of Platinum categories are allowed in a specific team. By convincing players to drop to lower-ranked categories, one of the franchises is hoping to get at least 5 to 6 Platinum players on board so that their team gets stronger than others
Consequently, rest of the franchises are not at all happy. All this fiasco is taking place in front of PCB and PSL representatives.
